The Roman Forum

 The Roman Forum

The Roman Forum is an area that was used for political, religious, and social events.  It was first used in 500 B.C.  It is located between Palatine Hill and Capitoline Hill at the heart of Rome.  The forum expanded over the years. During the Middle Ages, the area of the forum was used only for grazing cattle.  In 1803 the excavation of the Forum began, and this took more than 100 years.  It is best to visit the Forum in conjunction with the Colosseum and Palatine Hill.  Tickets for all three can be purchased as one ticket at their official site here:

This option is with the purchase of a Roma pass, which I highly recommend for traveling around Rome.  I purchase my Roma Pass and then use the combination Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill as my free entrance ticket.  You need to check that your preferred entrance time to the Colosseum is available before purchasing your Roma Pass.  To purchase an entrance to all 3 destinations without a Roma Pass costs 18 euro.
