St. Mark's Square & the Campanile
You can visit St. Mark's Square at any time. To visit the Basilica or the Campanile, you will need to purchase tickets. The official website to purchase those is here: Tickets to St. Mark's
I highly recommend reserving tickets to visit both, especially the Campanile! You can see beautiful views of Venice up there. The Campanile is one of my very favorite things about Venice. Here is a video of our most recent trip to St. Mark's Square: St. Mark's Square Campanile tickets are only 15 euro. A complete ticket to the Basilica is 30 euro.

Eating on St. Mark's Square
It is expensive to eat at one of the cafes on St. Mark's Square, but I still recommend it for the experience. Since St. Mark's is famous for being infested with pigeons, we were served our personal-sized pizzas with a pigeon-cover on it to prevent our lunch from being stolen. During the summer months, orchestras play at these outdoor cafes. When my daughter and I were visiting in March of 2025, there weren't orchestras playing. We did enjoy our meal, though.
