Statue of Liberty Paris

The Statue of Liberty at Pont de Grenelle

In Paris you can actually see three different replicas of the Statue of Liberty.  The one that I visited on my most recent trip to Paris in March of 2025, was the one on Pont de Grenelle.  It is about a thirty minute walk from the Eiffel Tower.  You can see the statue from quite a distance away, and in order to stand on ground level with the statue, you must descend the stairs from the bridge and walk on the man-made island to the tip of the island.  This Statue of Liberty is 1/4 the size of the original Statue of Liberty in New York, USA.  It was given to Paris on July 4, 1889 from citizens of the US who were living in Paris.  It originally faced the east towards the Eiffel Tower, but in 1937 it was turned to the west to face the original Statue of Liberty in New York.

Walking on the man-made island, Ile aux Cygnes, we passed by what appeared to be a cross-fit gym with lots of guys working out.  When we reached the Statue, there were a few people lingering about, mostly enjoying the solitude rather than the Statue itself.  One couple sat underneath the Statue and didn't move even for us to take photos of it..  Graffiti now lines the base of the Statue.

Beautiful city lights of Paris surrounded us on the shore as we walked toward the Statue.  Many boats passed us in the water with guests eating dinner inside.

Beautiful Paris, and one of several dinner cruises that we saw float past us as we enjoyed our time on the island

View of the Eiffel Tower from the Statue
This photo taken from the Eiffel Tower shows the Statue of Liberty, which is on the far end of the man-made island in the middle of the Seine River, just beyond the Grenelle Bridge.

In the movie "National Treasure: Book of Secrets," released in 2007, the Statue of Liberty in Paris is featured beginning at 22 minutes into the movie.  In the movie they make the Statue appear to be much closer to the Eiffel Tower than it actually is.  Also, in the movie they fly a drone close to the flame of the Statue and find a secret message, which does not really exist on the Statue.

This shot would have had to have been taken from the water, because you can't get far enough away from the statue to take a photo at that distance, and the Eiffel Tower had to have been super-imposed into this shot because it is not nearly that close to the Statue.

This is a drone flying around the Paris Statue

In this shot they would have had to have been very far away from the Statue to have been that close to the Eiffel Tower

They probably really were standing beside the Statue in this photo, although not in front of the Eiffel Tower as their earlier shot suggested

This inscription on the flame was created for the movie and does not really exist on the Statue
