Gosausee, Austria
I went on a European road trip with my son and his family in May of 2024. We explored through 9 countries. While exploring Austria, we went to hike around the Gosau Lake and to ride the Gosaukammbahn (cable car) and explore the mountains. The official website for the cable car is here:
The cable car is open from 8:15 am until 6 pm in the summer and closes at 5 pm in the winter. Tickets cost 24 euro each. It is located at GosauseestraBe 52, 4824 Gosau.
We walked around Lake Gosau (Gosausee) first when we arrived. Then we rode the cable car up the mountain to the Zwieselalm, which is a ski resort in the Dachstein Mountains in the Austrian Alps. There are free baby strollers at the top of the mountain where the cable car drops you off. There are several trails you can follow and they are pretty steep -- don't let go of the baby jogger or it'll go speeding down the mountain!
The cable car is enclosed and I was totally fine inside it, despite my fear of heights. The view is beyond amazing! It is breathtaking!
Here is a video of our ride in the cable car:
