Leutascher Geisterklamm
Leutascher Geisterklamm is a gorge located in both Austria and Germany. Germany in the east and Austria in the west. The majority of the gorge is located in Austria. If you start at the parking lot in Austria and walk the entire thing, you will walk into Germany.
You can read about the Leutascher Geisterklamm at its official website:
It is free to hike most of the Leutaschklamm, although there is a small fee for the Waterfall trail, which is only open during the warm summer months. It was closed when we were there in May. You can spend between a half hour to two hours hiking the trails. There are so many fun activities for both kids and adults along the trail, including the very impressive Woodhenge!
I am very grateful to the European people for making the beauty of nature so accessible to people! Installing bridges, walkways, tunnels, lifts, cable cars, stairways, etc. so that people can enjoy the beauty of Europe is such a gift to its people! On this gorge hike we walked along metal walkways most of the way and could see everything below us. I am afraid of heights, but I was fine on this hike. There is one long bridge that goes from one side of the gorge to the other, and I was even able to handle this bridge. We hiked in one way and out on a different trail, which meant we were able to see different views of the area. The gorge walkways were safe, although on one of the dirt trails I slipped on loose rocks and ended up on the ground! This is only because it was a very steep trail.

Some of the kids' activities are pretty fun for adults too! |

One of the characters for the kids to watch for along the hike is hidden in this small cave |

This is what the walkway is made of - I am afraid of heights and I did OK on this hike even though I could see what was below me. |

This bridge goes over the gorge - this is one area where you can decide which trail to take |

I wish I'd brought a lock along to add to the bridge! |

At this downward trail I slipped on loose rocks and fell to the ground. Be careful if you choose this steep path! |

We came upon a cairn garden on our hike! |

We love cairn gardens! |

There was also a tee-pee to play in |

And last but not least, Woodhenge! |
