Prague, Czech Republic
I went on a European road trip with my son & his family, exploring 9 different countries in Europe. Along the route we visited Prague. I was especially intrigued because I love the Mission Impossible movies, and the first Mission Impossible was filmed in Prague -- on the Charles Bridge, and in Old Town Square. It was fun to get to visit these places, as well as several other beautiful and intriguing sites. The Astronomical Clock was especially interesting to me, and I wish we'd stayed in Prague long enough for me to see it go off.
St. Vitus Cathedral
This Catholic cathedral was constructed in 1344 and is part of the Prague Castle Complex. Their official website is here:
The Cathedral opens at 9 am and closes at 5 pm.
Entrance costs about $18 paid for in Czech currency.
Prague Castle
The Prague Castle was built in the 9th century. It serves as the official residence of the president of the Czech Republic. The Prague Castle official website is located here:
Mission Impossible IV: Ghost Protocol was filmed in one of the courtyards of the Prague Castle, doubling as the Kremlin.

Charles Bridge
Charles Bridge is a medieval bridge built in the 14th century. It crosses the Vltava River. Mission Impossible I was filmed on Charles Bridge. When we visited the bridge in 2024, I purchased earrings from one of the street vendors on the bridge, and they are one of my favorite pair of earrings. The Old Town Bridge Tower at the end of the bridge connects the Charles Bridge to the Prague Old Town. You can read more about the Charles Bridge at this website:

The Powder Tower is very similar in appearance to the Old Town Bridge Tower. It is one of the original city gates in Old Town. It was built in 1475. It connects Old Town Square with Republic Square.

Old Town Square
Old Town Square dates back to the 10th century and serves as the major marketplace of Prague. A portion of Mission Impossible I was filmed here. The Jan Hus Monument is in the middle of the square.

The Marian Column in Old Town Square was originally built on the square in 1650, but was torn down by Prague citizens in 1918. A replica was made in 2020 and reinstalled on the same site. |

Exploring Prague
Prague is beautiful and historic. Its nickname is "The Golden City" because of its many gold-tipped towers and gold-adorned statues.
