Piazza del Duomo in Florence

Piazza del Duomo

You can't visit Florence without including the Piazza del Duomo and all of its sites as part of your visit.  The Duomo climb is perhaps the most intriguing of the activities you'll find at the Piazza, although each of the sites is worth seeing.

The official website to purchase tickets to climb the Duomo and visit other sites on Piazza del Duomo is here:  Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore

Hours for the Piazza del Duomo:
Dome:  8:15 a.m. -- 6:45 p.m.
Giotto's bell tower:  8:15 a.m. -- 6:45 p.m.
Baptistery: 8:30 a.m. -- 7:30 p.m.
Duomo Museum:  8:30 a.m. -- 6:00 p.m.
Basilica of Santa Reparata: 10:45 a.m. -- 4 p.m.
Cathedral:  10:15 a.m. -- 3:45 p.m.

Every first Tuesday of the month the museum is closed.  I very highly recommend purchasing a Brunelleschi Pass because it includes access to everything, including climbing the dome.  The Brunelleschi Pass costs 30 euro.

Here are my blog posts about each of the sites on the Piazza del Duomo:

Visiting after hours is also highly recommended because then you get to see the buildings all lit-up.  On our first trip to Florence, my husband and I went walking near the Duomo in the middle of the night and enjoyed being the only ones there admiring the buildings.

The google maps location of Piazza del Duomo is here:  Piazza del Duomo
