Hallstatt, Austria
Hallstatt is a romantic little town about an hour drive from Salzburg. It sits on the edge of Lake Hallstatt and is beautiful in every direction. We rode the Salzbergbahn cable car up to the high valley and walked on the Hallstatt Skywalk. Here is the website for the cable car:
The cable car is enclosed, and even though I am terrified of heights, it wasn't too scary for me. There are rails to hold on to if you're feeling nervous. Once you reach the top, you can walk on the Hallstatt Skywalk and stand in a tiny corner with incredible panoramic views. This was more scary for me than riding the cable car.
We ate on the patio at a restaurant in Hallstatt. Then we drove through town and around the edge of the lake. Here is a video of our short time in Hallstatt:
