Chatsworth House
I absolutely love Pride & Prejudice, as do both of my daughters. When I planned a trip to England in November of 2024, visiting as many sites from the Pride & Prejudice movies was a definite must! I did some research on where the sites were located and planned our road trip with the two Pemberley's (Chatsworth House and Lyme Park) as a highlight of the trip. Chatsworth House was Pemberley in the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice (the Keira Knightley version). When I researched Chatsworth House, I read online that it was not necessary to make a reservation online. Since I wasn't sure what time we would be arriving at the house, I didn't buy tickets ahead of time. This is the BIGGEST regret of my entire trip! Because what we didn't know is that the Chatsworth Christmas Market would be starting that day, and that Chatsworth House would sell out as a result.
We pulled up to the entrance to Chatsworth House parking and were met immediately by security who wanted to see our tickets. We explained that we had hoped to buy them on location. They said they were completely sold out for the day (and days ahead). They said their parking was also completely full because of the Christmas Fair. They said we could go park at a car park in Baslow and walk onto the Chatsworth grounds, and admire the house from the outside, and attend the Christmas Market. I was absolutely heart broken! I had been looking forward to this tour probably more than anything else I'd planned on our England trip! And now I couldn't even go inside!
So we parked in a parking lot in Baslow called the Nether End Car Park and walked onto the Chatsworth grounds. Here is the location of Nether End Car Park:

Nether End Car ParkWe used an app to pay for our parking. It took almost an hour to walk to Chatsworth House. It was a cold walk at the end of November, but it was also beautiful.

We drove to the gates and that's as far as we could get, since we didn't have pre-purchased tickets |

I'm sure approaching when it's not the Christmas Market would look much different than this |
