Oeschinensee, Switzerland

Oeschinensee is a beautiful lake in Switzerland.  My son and his family took me on a European road trip through 9 European countries, including Switzerland, in May of 2024.  Oeschinensee was one of the most beautiful lakes that I saw on this trip!  In fact, I bet it was the most beautiful lake.  And additionally, it had a beautiful waterfall that we were able to take photos under.

Beginning in Kandersteg, you ride a cable car up to the lake.  Their official website is here:  Oeschinensee

A round-trip ticket to ride the cable car to the lake costs 36 euro for adults and 18.50 euro for kids under 16 years old.  Drive through Kandersteg and park at the Kandersteg-Oeschinensee gondola parking lot.  The ride in the cable car is beautiful.  Then the hike from the lift to the lake is a short 20 minute hike.

Oeschinensee also has a mountain coaster that is pretty fun!

My advice to you when riding the mountain coaster is not to end up behind someone like me -- I used the brake the whole time and went pretty slow!
