Aareschlucht, Aare Gorge Canyon Walk
Aare Gorge Canyon Walk is located in Meiringen, Switzerland. My son and his family took me on a European road trip in May of 2024 that included 9 European countries, including Switzerland. This gorge hike is beautiful! It takes about 45 minutes to walk through it. You can find out information and purchase tickets here:
It costs 20 euro if you buy a combined ticket with Reichenbach Falls, which I highly recommend. Information about the rail ride up to Reichenbach Falls is here:
Reichenbach Falls is famous because of the story of Sherlock Holmes. This is the waterfall that Sherlock and Professor Moriaty fight and tumble to their deaths. There is memorabilia of Sherlock Holmes up at the site.

Reichenbach Falls
You can see a video of our walk in Aare Gorge and our ride on the rail car up to Reichenbach Falls here:
I love the Sherlock Holmes stories, and I also love visiting famous movie shooting locations, so visiting Reichenbach Falls was quite a treat for me! Sherlock Holmes and his arch-enemy Professor Moriarty fought at the top of the waterfall, and then both plummeted to their deaths down this waterfall. After riding the cable car to the falls, there is Sherlock memorabilia and a spot to take photos as Sherlock Holmes, which my grandsons enjoyed.

"Across this dreadful cauldron occurred the culminating event in the career of Sherlock Holmes the world's greatest detective, when on May 4, 1891 he vanquished Professor Moriarty the Napoleon of Crime." |
